Terms for shops

These are the terms for a bike shop using bike.tools, made by Hank Bicycle Company. Riders booking with a shop deal with the shop; the privacy page covers them too.

What bike.tools is

bike.tools adds tools to Lightspeed Retail: a Chrome extension, a booking page, status pages, Bike Archive data and AI tools. It isn't made by Lightspeed. Lightspeed stays the shop's point of sale: bike.tools never rings out a sale, takes payment for one or acts as a checkout.

The shop's account

  • The person who creates a shop is its owner and is responsible for who they let in and what access they give.
  • Connecting Lightspeed lets bike.tools read and write that shop's Lightspeed account as described in Help. The owner can disconnect it at any time.
  • Keep sign-in details private, and tell us if you think someone else has them.

Add-ons and billing

  • The Lightspeed tools in the extension are free. Each add-on is a monthly subscription billed by Stripe, and can be cancelled at any time; it runs to the end of the month already paid.
  • The AI add-ons include a monthly allowance of AI use, shown under Settings → AI usage. Past it, bike.tools adds extra use in $10 steps, up to the monthly limit the owner sets, and those go on the next invoice. At the limit, the AI tools stop until the next month or until the owner raises it.
  • Prices can change; we'll tell owners by email at least 30 days before a change applies to them.

AI tools

Quick Book and the Shop Assistant can be wrong. They only suggest: nothing they draft reaches Lightspeed until someone at the shop presses Create, and reports and answers should be checked before they're relied on.

Data

The shop's data is the shop's. How we keep it, share it and delete it is on the privacy page. The shop is responsible for having its customers' permission to keep their details in Lightspeed and bike.tools.

Fair use

Don't use bike.tools to send messages people didn't ask for, to get at another shop's data, to get around the limits on the AI tools or Lightspeed's API, or for anything unlawful. We can suspend a shop that does, and will tell the owner why.

If something goes wrong

We work hard to keep bike.tools running and correct, but it's provided as it is. As far as the law allows, Hank Bicycle Company isn't liable for lost sales or data beyond what the shop paid us in the last three months.

Changes

We'll post changes here and email owners about anything that matters. Questions: help@bike.tools.
